Astrophysics talk at UCLAN
On Tuesday, the Westholme Physics department took a trip to UCLAN to see a public lecture delivered by Professor Arif Babul, whose expertise lies in cosmology, theoretical astrophysics, and cosmic structure formation.
His lecture was titled ‘Why does the Universe look the way it does?’, and provided an excellent introduction to the topic of cosmology, and how theoretical physicists and astronomers are using mathematical models to understand the formation of structure in the Universe.
Both student and staff found the talk entertaining and engrossing. The students were then fortunate enough to be able to have a short discussion with Professor Babul after the lecture, during which he was really impressed by the calibre of their questions.
