Senior Carol Service
We held our Senior Carol Service in the beautiful surroundings of Blackburn Cathedral. Organised by Director of Music Mr Holt and Mrs Lewis, it is always one of the highlights of the Westholme School calendar. Needless to say, this year proved to be no different! Our students put on a fabulous showcase of musical celebration, with a variety of performances throughout the evening.
Continuing on from last year, we were delighted to have The Very Reverend Peter Howell-Jones conducting the service and John Hosking playing the organ. It was great to hear the carols reverberating around the walls of the Cathedral, and seeing everyone getting into the festive mood in the build-up towards Christmas.
Aside from the carols, it proved to be a fine evening of ensemble and solo musical performances, with the orchestra and school bands in full swing. Soloists performed admirably, and those students who read readings did so superbly. We were pleased to welcome back former Deputy Head Boy Saahil, who was representing our Old Westholmians for the evening.
The chosen charity for both our Senior and Prep services was the NSPCC. Thank you to everyone who donated to such a great cause. We are delighted to say that on the evening of the Senior Service, we raised £1,213.
Overall, it was a fantastic occasion of Christmas entertainment and what better way to end the term than on a rousing rendition of ‘Hark! The Herald Angels Sing’. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the evening!
