Ceramic Workshop

The Art Department were delighted to welcome Sally Edmundson-Bird to Westholme, to put on a ceramic workshop for our student artists. Sally is a ceramic artist and is completing her MA in ceramics at UCLan.

With the support of Westholme Association as well as the School we were able to invite Sally to deliver a specialist workshop for art students from years 10 up to 13. The staff came together to prepare a collection of tiles for the workshop.

The students were shown three different techniques, working with clay tiles at different stages of production. They learned about the various resources you can use on clay whilst sampling designs that they may use within their artwork. They experienced water etching, bubble glazing and mono-printing.

The workshop sessions were lively and exciting. The students learned a great deal and it was super to see them engaging with a visiting artist.
