First week back for Prep 1
Prep 1 have certainly started the new term with a spring in their step! The children have been excitedly learning about their new topics this term.
In science, the children have already been getting hands on with plants. A great topic to follow their amazing Lower Prep Spring production last term – ‘There’s a sunflower in my supper!’ – in which the children learnt about the necessary elements for successful germination of a seed. The children planted their own seeds this week and will be putting their knowledge into practice growing everything from apple seeds to radish.
The children are continuing to enjoy Michael Morpurgo’s book ‘The Rainbow Bear’. They have been really getting to grips with how to extend a sentence and make their own writing more exciting to read.
The new history topic this term is Kings, Queens and castles. The children can’t wait to get going. We’ve started by looking at our own current Royal family and the children really enjoyed being Royal portrait artists after seeing how it has been done in the past.
A short but extremely busy week in Prep 1!
