FINE ART

Why choose Fine Art?

Creativity is not just about the pursuit of artistic interest; it can also open the door to exciting career opportunities for our students. The AQA Fine Art course stimulates creativity by allowing students to explore, develop and refine their skills within specific mediums. Themes are varied and are changed regularly to suit the individualised strengths and passions of students, enabling them to explore a range of media, processes and techniques freely. There are an excellent range of facilities within the department which allows us to teach a broad and varied course. Students are afforded the experience to explore visual imagery in many mediums such as drawing, painting, printmaking, 3D modelling, ceramics, glass fusing, mixed media and collage which develop strengths in traditional and more modern techniques and processes. Artists, designers and cultures all influence the stimulation of artwork and are studied closely alongside practical endeavours. The course facilitates the production of an extensive portfolio of work which can be taken to interviews for Higher Education or employment. Work submitted can take many forms but usually includes sketchbooks and a variety of outcomes in response to a theme.
