Multicultural Awareness Day 2025

On Wednesday 20 November, we celebrated Multicultural Awareness Day, which focussed on creating unity through celebrating diversity. Students and staff across the entire school dressed in clothing to represent their cultural background and upbringing. Mrs Oracz led a special assembly in the morning to introduce the day, and it was obvious from the sea of colours in the Theatre what an amazing effort everyone had put in to get involved in the occasion.

Mrs Oracz spoke about the importance of respecting one another regardless of where people have come from, or their beliefs, religion or background, and got everyone into the spirit of the day. Students then took to the stage in The Croston Theatre to introduce themselves and speak about their culture, dressed in traditional clothing. There really was an amazing array of outfits on show and unique stories that were being told.

It was a fantastic way to celebrate the diversity that is present at Westholme, and how people of all sorts of backgrounds, religions, and cultures can come together and unite in their shared experiences. Thank you to Mrs Oracz for organising such a special day. Money was being raised for Children in Need, and we look forward to announcing the totals raised next week. Thank you to everyone who donated!

After assembly, our catering partners Thomas Franks put on a fabulous meal for us at lunch that celebrated a wide array of cultural foods from all over the world. As usual, it was delicious! Students eagerly tucked in before returning to their lessons in the afternoon.
