Olympian James Guy visits

Last week, Westholme School was privileged to welcome Olympic gold medalist James Guy for an exclusive session with our sports scholars and swimming team. As one of Britain’s most accomplished swimmers, James shared his incredible journey, from early training days to standing on the podium at the Olympic Games.

During his visit, James spoke about the importance of dedication, resilience and mindset in achieving success at the highest level. Our students were captivated by his experiences and left feeling motivated to push their own boundaries in sport. He also offered valuable insights into training discipline, goal-setting and handling pressure – lessons that extend far beyond the pool.

James’ visit was an unforgettable experience for our young athletes, reinforcing the belief that with hard work and determination, anything is possible.

About the experience, James shared “It’s been really nice to speak to the younger generation about my journey, and what I’ve done with the sport. Westholme is a very energetic school with a supportive staff and it’s been great to be a part of that today. Hopefully I shed some light and some inspiration on the student scholars and all the children that attended.”

A huge thank you to James for his time and inspiration—we can’t wait to see how our students apply his wisdom in their sporting journeys!
