Michaela Steps Into the Field of Medicine and Surgery

Michaela is getting ready to operate on a future in medicine after achieving A* in Chemistry and As in Biology and English Literature.

Michaela has secured her place to study medicine at the University of Lancaster following an impressive set of A Level results.

She said: “The experience has been really amazing; it’s quite saddening to be leaving so soon because I feel like it’s just flown by so quickly.” Michaela enjoyed the fact that Westholme allowed her to excel in her scientific pursuits but also explore her creative side.

She said “The amazing thing about Westholme is that I’ve been able to continue with my passion for the arts even though I’m quite a scientific person, I’ve still been able to play the violin and be a part of last year’s production of Le Misérables.

“I’ve just had a lot of opportunities to do extracurricular activities alongside my studies and that’s something I don’t think I would have had the chance to do anywhere else.”

The atmosphere at Westholme was encouraging and welcoming for Michaela, who chose the INSPIRED Sixth Form for her A Level studies, having joined from another school.

On what attracted her to Westholme, she said: “It just had such a welcoming environment and then the transition was really good as from as early as day one people were coming up to me, making me feel welcome. It was easy to make friends.”
