Outdoor Learning

One of the most treasured aspects of Prep life is William’s Wood, a dedicated outdoor learning space where children can explore nature in all its glory.

Exploring the natural world

Our outdoor provision gives children the chance to investigate the natural world and their place within it. Whether they are hunting for mini beasts, conducting a science experiment in the mud kitchen or storytelling under the trees, pupils are encouraged to engage with the world around them in meaningful, hands-on ways.

Encouraging Curiosity

This connection to nature allows children to solve problems, make decisions in their play and grow in confidence. William’s Wood offers a rich, sensory environment where curiosity thrives – whether pupils are building dens, spotting animal tracks or exploring textures and sounds. It’s a space that encourages independent thinking and a love of discovery.

“Our outdoor provision is something we’re incredibly proud of,” says Head of Prep, Mrs Hornby. “It allows children to develop resilience, teamwork and a deep appreciation for the natural world.”
