Bob Sutcliffe leads an Art Workshop with Prep 4

Prep 4 pupils enjoyed an inspiring afternoon this week when they took part in an art workshop with award-winning artist and charity founder Bob Sutcliffe MBE. The session gave the children a chance to think like real artists as they explored how light, shade and contrast bring depth and emotion to artwork.

Bob began by helping pupils understand how colours can interact, contrast and complement one another, showing how light and shadow can change the tone and mood of a piece. Pupils then experimented with these ideas on their own foil triangles, blending creativity with curiosity as they explored the science behind colour and reflection.

Working together, the class assembled their individual pieces into a striking collaborative display – an eye-catching mosaic that shimmered with light, texture and imagination. The finished artwork was a true celebration of teamwork and creativity.

Bob also shared his inspiring story as an artist and founder of The Creative Health Trust UK, which supports creative therapies in hospices across the country. His passion for art and his commitment to helping others left a lasting impression on pupils and staff alike.

A huge thank you to Bob Sutcliffe for leading such a memorable and meaningful session. It was a wonderful afternoon that perfectly captured the spirit of creativity and collaboration at Westholme Prep.
