Day 1 in New York City

 The first day of the much-anticipated New York trip kicked off in spectacular style as students immersed themselves in the sights, sounds and stories of one of the world’s most iconic cities. From walking across the historic Brooklyn Bridge to watching the lights dim on Broadway, the day was filled with discovery, inspiration and awe.

The adventure began early in the morning as students crossed the Brooklyn Bridge, taking in sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline and the East River below. Cameras clicked and laughter echoed as the group paused to capture the moment against a backdrop of towering skyscrapers and clear blue skies.

From there, the group made its way to the Financial District, where they encountered the famous Charging Bull; a symbol of resilience and determination. Students gathered around the bronze sculpture, learning about its origins and significance before heading onward through the bustling streets of lower Manhattan.

The afternoon was a moving experience as students visited the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, where they spent time reflecting beneath the branches of the Survivor Tree. The tree, which endured the attacks and was nursed back to health, stands today as a symbol of hope and renewal. Students took time to write notes and observations, connecting their classroom lessons about history and resilience to the powerful realities before them.

As the sun set, excitement built for an evening on Broadway, where the group attended a breathtaking performance of Wicked.

The day concluded high above the city at Summit One Vanderbilt, where students experienced panoramic nighttime views that stretched across the glittering skyline. The dazzling lights of Times Square, the Empire State Building and beyond offered the perfect end to a day of adventure.

With so much already experienced, the trip promises a week filled with culture, history and unforgettable memories. Day one was just the beginning—New York City has so much more in store. 🌆🗽✨
