U15 Girls March Into National Quarter Finals

Westholme U15 girls delivered a truly historic performance, securing a dominant 7–0 victory over Silcoates and, in doing so, achieving a first ever quarter-final place for the school in a National competition.

From the very first whistle, Westholme set the tempo. Their attacking intent was clear, dominating possession and driving forward with pace and purpose. The opposition struggled to cope with the relentless pressure, and within just 10 minutes the U15s had established a confident 2–0 lead.

The first half showcased some superb team hockey. The defensive unit remained composed and assured when called upon, breaking down play efficiently and quickly regaining possession. In midfield, the work rate was exceptional, tirelessly linking defence to attack and feeding the dynamic forward line. Sharp, intelligent runs into space caused constant problems, with players exploiting gaps, creating overloads, and generating a number of goal-scoring opportunities.

Silcoates emerged for the second half with renewed determination and began to grow in confidence, forcing Westholme to work hard to win the ball back. During this spell, some key saves from the goalkeeper proved crucial in maintaining momentum and preserving the clean sheet. Those moments of resilience reinforced the team’s focus and determination.

Recognising the shift in momentum, Westholme responded well, raising the pace of the game and launching counter-attacks that caught the opposition off guard. Their clinical finishing and continued attacking cohesion saw the scoreline extend to an emphatic 7–0 by the final whistle.

This is an excellent achievement and a testament to the squad’s hard work, discipline, and collective belief. Well done to the entire team on an outstanding display.
