Year 12 Students Visit UCAS Discovery in Manchester

As part of National Careers Week, our Year 12 students visited the UCAS Discovery event in Manchester on Wednesday, taking an important step in exploring their future pathways beyond Sixth Form.

UCAS Discovery is one of the UK’s largest university and careers events, bringing together over 150 universities, apprenticeship providers and employers under one roof. Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to speak directly with university representatives, ask questions about courses and entry requirements, and explore a wide range of potential study and career routes.

Alongside university options, the event also showcased degree apprenticeships, vocational pathways and industry opportunities, giving students valuable insight into the many different routes available after Sixth Form. Interactive stands, expert talks and advice sessions helped students better understand the application process, student life and the skills employers are looking for.

The trip was led by our Head of Careers, Mrs Hibberd, who works closely with students to guide them through their next steps. For many, the event provided a chance to gather prospectuses, make useful contacts and begin thinking more clearly about their future ambitions.

Students returned inspired and motivated, with a wealth of information to support them as they begin planning their UCAS applications, university visits and career pathways over the coming months.

This visit forms part of our wider programme of activities for National Careers Week, with many more careers-focused opportunities taking place both this week and next. These include form-time discussions, online resources and guidance sessions designed to help students explore their interests, develop their aspirations and make confident, informed decisions about their future.
