Westholme is celebrating another standout results day after Year 11 students delivered an impressive set of GCSE grades – just one week after the school’s Sixth Form marked a superb set of A Level results.
Overall, 45% of entries achieved grades 9-7, up 15% on last year’s figures, with 67% awarded grades 9-6, also up on last year’s figures.
Principal Paul Taylor said: “This is a wonderful double celebration for Westholme. Our GCSE students have risen to the challenge with energy, resilience and ambition, and they should be enormously proud of what they have achieved.
“Coming so soon after our excellent A Level results, today’s success shows what is possible when talented young people, expert teachers and supportive families pull together.”
Mr Taylor added: “These results belong to the whole Westholme community. Our staff know every student as an individual, challenge them to aim high and give them the confidence to take their next step. I am deeply grateful for their skill, care and commitment. Coupled with the endless support and loyalty of our parents, the outcomes for each child are truly part of a collective endeavour.”
The school also had the unusual distinction of having three sets of non-identical twins in the same Year 11 group this year. All six students performed strongly, adding an extra dimension to an already notable results day and contributing to the superb outcomes across the cohort.
Many of this year’s GCSE cohort will now move into Westholme Sixth Form, following in the footsteps of the A Level students whose achievements were celebrated last week.
Mr Taylor said: “Today is about celebrating how far these young people have come and looking ahead with real excitement to where they will go next.”
Congratulations, Westholme Class of 2026!
