Building Confidence and Fitness in the Gym

As part of our commitment to lifelong physical activity, all Year 7 – 9 students participate in a comprehensive strength and conditioning programme within our school gym. The programme is designed to build a solid understanding of fitness, enhance physical wellbeing, and instil the confidence to continue an active lifestyle both during and beyond school.

This week, our Year 7 Girls began their induction sessions, learning essential health and safety practices alongside the foundations of strength and conditioning. Pupils are introduced to a variety of exercises and techniques aimed at improving muscular strength, coordination, endurance and overall fitness, while developing the knowledge to participate safely in gym-based activities as they grow older.

The programme also encourages students to take responsibility for their own physical development, promoting self-confidence, resilience and personal goal setting. By introducing pupils to structured training early in their education, we equip them with the tools and mindset to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle for years to come.

We are incredibly grateful to the Westholme Association for supporting the purchase of gym equipment, which allows us to provide students with a high-quality learning environment. Through this initiative, students gain not only physical benefits but also the confidence and understanding to engage in fitness activities safely and effectively, helping to foster lifelong health and wellbeing.
