Chemistry is central to these aims because it sits at the interface between theory and application, helping students understand and shape the material world. 

Modern societies rely on chemical science in medicines and healthcare, energy production and storage, materials, manufacturing and technology, and food, water and environmental protection. 

Chemistry teaches students to:

• Analyse data and evaluate claims critically 
• Distinguish sound science from misinformation
