Key Stage 3 – History

Westholme’s 21st Century curriculum is characterised by intellectual curiosity and academic rigour, global awareness and outward-looking education, ethical leadership and character formation, critical thinking, debate and communication, and preparation for a complex, uncertain future rather than narrow exam performance. From that standpoint, Humanities disciplines are not optional extras; they are core enablers.

History equips students to understand how the modern world came to be, analyse power, change, continuity and consequence, and evaluate evidence, bias and competing narratives.

In a world shaped by political polarisation, misinformation and selective storytelling and rapid social and technological change, History trains students to think sceptically but not cynically, explore and accept complexity rather than seek simple answers, and make informed judgements based on evidence.

History aligns with Westholme’s curriculum by:
