Elite Coaching Partnership Strengthens Sport at Westholme

We are proud to be developing a new era of enhanced sports training through an exciting partnership with Rounders England and high level hockey coaching from the Lancashire County coach and chair of Clitheroe & Blackburn Northern Hockey Club (CBN). These opportunities are already enriching our sporting provision and inspiring pupils across the school.

Over the coming months, Westholme will serve as the training base for both the North West Junior and Senior Rounders England squads. National level coaches will be delivering a series of development sessions on site, making full use of our excellent facilities. This partnership not only supports the performance pathway for regional athletes but also opens the door for Westholme pupils to learn directly from elite coaches. Selected training opportunities will allow our students to refine technical skills, build tactical understanding and gain invaluable insights into high performance sport.

In addition to this, our hockey programme is receiving a significant boost through specialist coaching delivered by the Lancashire County coach and chair of CBN Hockey Club. Working alongside our staff, the coach is leading sessions within curriculum lessons and team training to elevate pupil performance across all age groups. Students are benefiting from expert guidance on movement, game awareness and positional play, helping them grow in confidence and ambition.

These two developments highlight Westholme’s commitment to creating exceptional sporting environments where students can flourish. The combination of national level rounders coaching and advanced hockey training provides our pupils with unique exposure to elite sport, strengthening pathways for both recreational and high performing athletes.
