Prep 1 pupils were delighted to welcome their parents into school for a special Explore Together session, showcasing the creativity and practical skills they have been developing in Design Technology.
Inspired by the much-loved story of the Gingerbread Man, the children took on the challenge of designing and creating their own gingerbread-themed hand puppets. Working with felt, thread and a range of decorative materials, pupils carefully planned their designs before sewing the puppet pieces together and adding their own creative finishing touches.
The classroom was filled with excitement as children and parents worked side by side, sharing ideas, learning new skills and enjoying the opportunity to create something together. Pupils demonstrated impressive patience and perseverance as they practised their sewing techniques, while parents were able to see first-hand the confidence and independence their children are developing in lessons.
The activity not only helped strengthen fine motor skills and creativity but also encouraged problem-solving, communication and collaboration. Most importantly, it provided a wonderful opportunity for families to spend quality time together and celebrate learning.
The finished puppets were full of personality, with each one reflecting the imagination and creativity of its young designer. The children were incredibly proud of their achievements and thoroughly enjoyed showing off their completed creations.
A huge thank you to all the parents who joined us for such an enjoyable afternoon. It was wonderful to see so many families working together and sharing in the children’s learning journey.
