Prep Phonics Evening

On Wednesday evening, our Lower Prep parents gathered in the Prep Hall for an enjoyable and informative Phonics Evening. The event offered a valuable insight into the teaching strategies and activities that underpin early reading and literacy at Westholme. Parents were able to experience first-hand how phonics is taught and discover practical ways to support learning at home.

Teachers guided families through interactive tasks, demonstrating how sounds are introduced and blended to build confident early readers. The session also provided useful tips to encourage a love of reading beyond the classroom. The evening was a celebration of the progress of our youngest pupils and reflected Westholme’s commitment to fostering curiosity, confidence, and strong foundations for future learning.
