Snowdonia Challenge Prepares Pupils for Norway Expedition

Westholme pupils took an important step towards their upcoming Norway Expedition this weekend, as they travelled to Snowdonia for a challenging and rewarding practice expedition as part of their Practical Skills programme.

Set against the dramatic backdrop of one of the UK’s most iconic national parks, the expedition provided the perfect environment for pupils to develop the essential skills needed for their international adventure. Over the course of the weekend, pupils navigated rugged terrain, tackled steep ascents and worked collaboratively to overcome a range of physical and mental challenges.

While reaching the summit was a significant achievement, the experience was about far more than the final destination. Pupils were encouraged to think independently, problem-solve in real time and support one another throughout the journey. From map reading and route planning to decision-making under pressure, every element of the expedition was designed to build confidence and resilience.

The demanding conditions tested both determination and teamwork, with pupils demonstrating impressive perseverance as they adapted to changing environments and pushed beyond their comfort zones. As the miles increased, so too did their confidence, with clear progress seen in their ability to communicate effectively, motivate one another and remain focused on shared goals.
