This week, Westholme athletes delivered an outstanding performance at the Blackburn Schools’ District Cross-Country Championships held at Witton Park, showcasing exceptional talent, determination and team spirit across all age groups.
The Year 7 boys were crowned District Champions, with Harry claiming gold and Thomas taking silver after a strong display of pace and endurance. The Year 7 girls also impressed, with Camille securing a well-deserved silver medal.
In the Year 8/9 girls category, Westholme continued their success, finishing as District Champions thanks to brilliant performances from Maria in gold, Talula in silver and Imi in bronze, marking a clean sweep of the podium. The Year 8/9 boys saw another standout run from Charlie, who stormed to gold in an impressive finish.
Further up the school, Will took gold in the Year 11 boys race, while Ayesha produced a dominant performance to win gold for the Sixth Form.
This remarkable set of results highlights not only the athletic ability of Westholme students but also their perseverance and teamwork. Every runner gave their best effort, showing true sportsmanship and determination throughout the challenging course.
Several pupils have now qualified to represent the Blackburn District at the Lancashire Schools’ Championships in February – an exciting next step for these talented young athletes.
