Year 8 student Laith achieved an outstanding result over the weekend of 25 and 26 October when he competed in the GP14 Youth National Championships. The event brought together some of the most talented young sailors from across the country to compete in a series of challenging races testing skill, strategy and endurance on the water.
After two full days of racing, Laith emerged victorious in his category, winning Youth Helm with an Adult Crew. This is a remarkable accomplishment, made even more impressive by the fact that at just 12 years old, Laith was the youngest competitor in the competition.
The GP14 is a demanding sailing dinghy that requires precision, teamwork and focus. Laith’s success is a testament to his dedication, technical ability and calmness under pressure. His performance demonstrated not only excellent sailing skills but also maturity and composure beyond his years.
Everyone at Westholme is incredibly proud of Laith’s success and the determination and sportsmanship he has shown in pursuing his passion for sailing. His achievement is an inspiration to fellow pupils and a reminder of what can be accomplished through perseverance and commitment
Congratulations, Laith, on a truly exceptional result and for representing yourself and Westholme so impressively on the national stage.
