Emergency CPR training sessions

In support of the EFL’s Every Minute Counts campaign, which highlights the life-saving importance of acting fast in a cardiac emergency, Year 8 and 9 Sports Scholars attended Emergency CPR sessions on Thursday. Each student took part in a 20-minute practical session during the school day.

Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere, and students learnt that early CPR can more than double a person’s chance of survival, giving students the confidence to act calmly in an emergency.

During the session they were taught to:

  • Recognise the signs of a cardiac emergency
  • Learn the importance of calling for help quickly
  • Practice safe and effective CPR
  • Understand how defibrillators can save lives

This was a valuable opportunity to gain practical skills while supporting personal development and wellbeing. Thank you to Harry from HW Training Services who conducted the session.
