U14 Sisters n Sport Team Crowned National Champions

Westholme’s U14 Sisters n Sport team delivered an outstanding performance at the national finals held at Loughborough University, demonstrating resilience and teamwork to bring home the Gold Medal after a thrilling day of competition.

After successfully progressing through four challenging qualifying rounds, the team travelled to Loughborough ready to face the very best school teams from across the country. Their first match of the day was a dramatic encounter against Beaconsfield School. The game proved to be an intense and physical contest, with momentum swinging between both sides throughout the early stages. By the end of the third quarter, Westholme found themselves trailing by a single goal.

However, under pressure the team showed remarkable character. In a superb final quarter performance, the girls held their composure, tightened their defence and delivered a series of decisive plays to overturn the deficit. The match ended in a fantastic 22–14 victory, securing Westholme’s place in the Grand Final.

During the break between matches, the team had the opportunity to explore the world-class facilities at Loughborough University. Meeting players from the England Roses and learning more about the elite training environment of Loughborough Lightning provided a powerful moment of inspiration before stepping back onto the court.

When the Grand Final against Torquay began, Westholme started with real intent and determination. Torquay’s physical approach tested the team during the second quarter, but a quick regroup and team talk refocused the players.

The third quarter saw Westholme produce their best netball of the day. Playing with one vision and complete unity, all eleven squad members contributed with energy, skill and grit. The team controlled the pace of the game and demonstrated outstanding teamwork to secure a commanding 25–15 victory, officially becoming U14 Sisters n Sport National Champions.

A special congratulations goes to Maria Johnson, who was named Player of the Finals in recognition of her exceptional performance throughout the tournament.

This remarkable achievement is a testament to the players’ dedication and the strength of teamwork within the Westholme netball programme. The entire Westholme community is incredibly proud of the team for representing the school with such determination and spirit.
