Westholme’s Year 11 netball team delivered a memorable performance at the BDSSA (Blackburn and Darwen Schools’ Sports Association) District Championships, securing the title in what was their final appearance at the competition.
The final whistle marked more than just the end of a match, it signalled the culmination of years of dedication, teamwork and determination from a group of players who have represented Westholme with pride throughout their school journey.
What made this victory particularly special was the collective spirit shown by the entire squad. Throughout the day, the team demonstrated resilience and adaptability, with players stepping up to fill new roles and support one another when the pressure was at its highest.
Two storylines defined the tournament. Our experienced players led by example, displaying the leadership, composure and tenacity that have been hallmarks of their play since Year 7. Alongside them, several students represented the school competitively for the very first time in their final year. Showing tremendous courage, these debutants embraced the challenge and made vital, game-changing contributions.
Together, the squad produced a performance full of teamwork and Westholme spirit—fittingly ending their BDSSA journey as district champions.
