A Weekend of West End Magic

On December 6th and 7th, a group of 28 eager Drama students from Westholme School embarked on an unforgettable trip to London, fully embracing the festive spirit of the season. The journey began with an early train ride to Euston, where the excitement in the air was palpable.

During our first day, some students were treated to a dazzling performance of Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club. Set against the backdrop of Weimar Germany in the 1930s, the show expertly blends music, dance, and drama, immersing viewers in a decadent world, where the line between reality and fantasy blurs. Some students were fortunate to watch the visually stunning and glamorous Devil Wears Prada at the Criterion. Following the matinees, the students explored the festive atmosphere of Covent Garden, indulging in delicious food and Christmas shopping, making the most of the vibrant market stalls.

After a cozy night’s sleep, the second day kicked off with more shopping adventures in Leicester Square and Oxford Street. The trip culminated with a breathtaking performance of Hadestown at the Lyric Theatre, a stunning retelling of a classic tale that captivated everyone and showcased exceptional talent.

With their suitcases in tow, the group returned to the hotel to collect their belongings before boarding the train back to Preston, reflecting on a remarkably enriching trip filled with artistry, culture, and the joyous spirit of the holiday season.

This theatre trip not only broadened the students’ appreciation for the performing arts but also fostered camaraderie and memorable experiences among classmates, making it a cherished event in their Drama education.
