Prep pupils embraced Anti-Bullying Week with a joyful programme of activities celebrating individuality, kindness and respect.
The week began with Odd Socks Day, where pupils proudly wore colourful, mismatched socks to symbolise that everyone is unique. Together, they created beautiful ‘identity bunting’, with each triangle representing a child’s personality, interests and the things that make them special.
In Reception, pupils made friendship bracelets and discussed what makes a kind and caring friend. Prep 1 explored what makes each of us unique, celebrating both similarities and differences between classmates. In Prep 2, pupils read Have You Filled a Bucket Today? and filled kindness “buckets” with thoughtful messages for their peers.
Prep 3 became “anti-bullying secret agents”, completing three missions to reveal the word KINDNESS and pledging to be upstanders, not bystanders. Prep 4 explored the difference between rude, mean and bullying behaviour through discussion and role play before designing eye-catching posters encouraging others to take positive action.
Prep 5 created powerful ‘Power Shields’ showing personal strengths such as determination, empathy and resilience. They also explored online kindness and safety, designing digital posters with slogans including Think Before You Type and Post Positivity!
Prep 6 explored kind words and phrases in other languages – such as soyons gentils (“let’s be kind” in French) and ti aiuterò (“I will help you” in Italian). Through their artwork, they portrayed messages of friendship, caring for the planet, and peace, showing that kindness is a language understood everywhere.
Across the week, pupils reflected deeply on the importance of respect, friendship and empathy. The Prep community showed that kindness truly has power – not just to prevent bullying, but to build confidence and connection.
