Prep 2 Book, Look & Lunch

We were delighted to welcome Prep 2 families into school for their Book, Look and Lunch session, a truly special opportunity to celebrate learning together.

The classroom was filled with excitement as pupils proudly shared their work with parents, guiding them through books and projects completed so far this year. It was wonderful to see the children taking the lead, confidently explaining their learning and reflecting on their progress across a wide range of subjects. From their exploration of the Great Fire of London to their studies of living things and their habitats, continents and oceans, pupils demonstrated both knowledge and enthusiasm. In English, they showcased a variety of text drivers, while in Maths they shared their understanding of key concepts such as fractions and place value.

Parents were genuinely impressed by the breadth and depth of learning, as well as the confidence with which pupils were able to articulate their ideas. Moments like these highlight academic progress, development of communication skills, independence and pride in their work – key elements of the Prep journey at Westholme.

Following this engaging classroom experience, families were invited to continue their visit with a shared lunch in the Dining Hall. This provided a relaxed and enjoyable setting for parents and children to spend quality time together within the school day. Conversations flowed as pupils chatted enthusiastically about their favourite subjects, school life and friendships.

A particularly fun talking point was the current Food Waste Challenge, which the children were keen to explain. Many pupils took their role very seriously, reminding parents not to contribute to their house’s ‘weekly weigh-in’ total! It was fantastic to see such awareness and responsibility being taken by our young learners, as they play their part in promoting sustainability across the school.
