Prep 5 Bring Stories to Life in Reading Competition

Last Friday, our Prep 5 pupils took to the stage for their annual Reading Competition, delivering a wonderful showcase of storytelling, expression and confidence.

Each pupil selected an extract from a favourite book and performed it in front of their classmates and judges, demonstrating impressive reading ability and real enthusiasm for literature. The audience was treated to a fantastic range of stories and styles, with pupils bringing characters to life through their voice, pace and expression.

The competition featured extracts from a variety of well-known and much-loved children’s books including Super Sleuth by David Walliams, Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo, Coraline by Neil Gaiman, Night of the Living Dummy by R. L. Stine, Lottie Brooks vs The Ultra Mean Girls by Katie Kirby, Dexter Procter by Adam Kay, Esio Trot and Matilda by Roald Dahl, and The Ministry of Unladylike Activities by Robin Stevens.

All ten pupils performed brilliantly, showing excellent preparation, confidence and creativity. The judges had a difficult task selecting a winner from such a strong group of readers.

Congratulations to Beth, who was awarded first place for her engaging and expressive reading of an extract from The Ministry of Unladylike Activities by Robin Stevens.

The event was a wonderful celebration of reading and a fantastic opportunity for pupils to share their love of books while developing important skills in public speaking and performance. Well done to all who took part.
