Prep School Buzzing with Beekeeper Visit

There was a real buzz in the Prep School this week as Prep 3 welcomed some very special visitors to their classroom… a hive of real bees!

Beekeepers from the East Lancashire Beekeepers Association came along for an informative and interactive session, bringing with them hundreds of honeybees for the children to meet, deepening their understanding of these small but mighty insects.

The Prep 3 classroom was a real hive of activity as pupils learnt all about the magic of bees, colonies and their importance in the natural world. Visits such as these show just how valuable hands-on learning experiences are, with the children discovering how these crafty creatures construct their hives, including the materials and expert engineering required to create their iconic honeycomb structure.

Pupils were also given the chance to make their very own beeswax candles and see the different types of honey that bees produce, with the visit generating a real buzz for biology and natural science.
