Sixth Formers Share Storytime

Our INSPIRED Sixth Form students enjoyed a very special visit to Prep Reception this week, spending time reading stories and sharing conversations with our youngest pupils in a lovely example of the Westholme family coming together.

The visit forms part of the students’ English Language studies, where they develop key communication and interpersonal skills alongside their academic learning. Reading with younger children gives Sixth Formers the opportunity to adapt their language, engage different audiences and build confidence in real-world situations, while also developing empathy and patience.

For the Reception children, the experience was equally valuable. Listening to stories read by older pupils created excitement and curiosity around books, while also helping to build confidence and a sense of connection within the wider school community. Many of the children were keen to ask questions, talk about their favourite characters and proudly show their visitors around their classroom.

Moments like these reflect the strength of our all-through school environment, where pupils benefit from meaningful interactions across year groups and learn from one another every day. From our youngest learners to our Sixth Form role models, this was a wonderful example of learning, kindness and community in action at Westholme.
