This week’s Student Spotlight shines on Grace, an exceptional Sixth Form student whose enthusiasm for learning and dedication to school life have earned her offers to study Chemistry at both the University of York and the University of Lancaster.
Currently studying Maths, Chemistry, English Language and Sociology, Grace is thriving academically. “I genuinely love all my subjects,” she shared. “They each offer something different, and I enjoy the challenge.” Her interest in chemistry is particularly strong, and she hopes to pursue a Master’s degree to explore a specialist research area in the future. While she is still discovering which career path she’ll ultimately follow, Grace is excited to continue progressing in a field she finds fascinating.
Grace joined Westholme in Year 7, and the school has played an important role in shaping her academic confidence and personal growth. She describes Westholme as a welcoming, encouraging environment:
“I’ve always loved how friendly the school is. Every time I joined a new club or class, I felt included straight away. There’s so much on offer, which makes it easy to find your place.”
Her time in the Sixth Form has been just as rewarding. As a member of the INSPIRED Sixth Form Charity Team, Grace has contributed to organising major events such as the Macmillan Coffee Morning and the Poppy Appeal collections for The Royal British Legion. Her commitment to giving back exemplifies the wider contribution she makes to school life.
Alongside her academic and charitable work, Grace is also performing in this year’s school production of Miss Saigon, taking on the role of Thuy. Balancing her studies with her passion for the arts has been a highlight of her Westholme experience, showcasing her creativity as well as her discipline.
As Grace looks ahead to university and beyond, she embodies the curiosity, ambition and versatility that define Westholme students. We are incredibly proud of all she has achieved – and excited to see where her journey in chemistry leads next.
