Westholme Netballers Shine in Competitive Fixtures

It was a fantastic afternoon of netball as seven Westholme teams from Year 7 through to Year 10 took to the court for a highly competitive series of fixtures against Rishworth School, delivering an exciting display of skill, teamwork and determination.

The depth of talent across the squads was clear to see, with Westholme securing five impressive wins from the seven matches played. Even in the two narrow defeats, the games remained fiercely contested until the final whistle, reflecting the high standard of netball from both schools and the determination shown by every player on court.

Across all age groups, the girls demonstrated exceptional resilience. Whether defending slim leads, responding to quick turnovers or fighting back during challenging quarters, the teams showed maturity beyond their years and an impressive ability to adapt to different styles of play. Strong defensive pressure, accurate shooting and fast, fluid transitions through court all contributed to some excellent passages of play throughout the afternoon.

Teamwork was a particular highlight, with players communicating confidently, supporting one another and working together to create scoring opportunities. The cohesion within each squad was evident and reflected the hard work taking place in training sessions, as well as the growing confidence of the players as the season progresses.

These fixtures also provided valuable match experience for pupils across multiple year groups, helping to develop not only technical netball skills but also key qualities such as leadership, perseverance and composure under pressure, all essential elements of competitive sport.
