Our runners put in a determined and impressive showing at the Catterall Shield, held at Giggleswick School, despite facing some very challenging conditions. Persistent rain, a demanding hilly course and temperatures hovering around 6°C made for a tough day of racing, but spirits remained high throughout.
Teams competed across the U11 girls, U11 boys, U13 girls and U13 boys races, with distances of approximately 2.2km for the U11s and 3.2km for the U13s. There was excellent running across all age groups, with plenty of resilience and determination on display in a superb, if rather soggy, setting. The standout team performance came from the U13 boys, who produced an excellent result with five runners finishing in the top 20.
Despite the cold, there were lots of smiling faces at the finish line as runners completed their races, and we are now awaiting the official results. A huge thank you goes to the Westholme Association for providing the dryrobes worn by the team, which were absolutely crucial in keeping everyone warm after racing.
