The final senior netball fixture of the season proved to be a truly special occasion, marking both a memorable victory and the end of an era for our Year 13 players. After years of dedication, teamwork and commitment to Westholme sport, the seniors took to the court for one last time in a spirited match against Rossall School.

From the first whistle, the game was played with intensity and purpose. Both teams showed strong defensive organisation and attacking intent, resulting in a tightly contested opening period. The match remained neck and neck, with neither side willing to give ground. Westholme’s determination, however, began to shine through as the game progressed. Through patient build-up play, excellent movement and clinical finishing, the team gradually pulled ahead.

As confidence grew, Westholme’s performance developed into a commanding display. The players demonstrated the cohesion and understanding that comes from years of playing together, working tirelessly across the court and supporting one another in every phase of play. By the final whistle, the girls had secured a well-earned and dominant 29–16 victory, a fitting result for their final appearance in Westholme colours.

Despite the competitive nature of the match, it was played in excellent spirits throughout. Both teams commented on the friendly atmosphere and mutual respect on display, making it a fitting and enjoyable conclusion to the season. These values of sportsmanship, teamwork and respect have been hallmarks of this Year 13 group during their time at Westholme.

A special mention must go to Holly, who was named Player of the Match for her outstanding performance. Her composure, leadership and impact across the court played a key role in securing the win and provided a perfect individual highlight on an already memorable afternoon.

For our Year 13 players, this fixture represented more than just another match. It was a celebration of their contribution to Westholme sport, their commitment to training and fixtures, and the example they have set for younger players coming through the ranks. Their dedication over the years has helped shape a strong and positive netball culture within the school.

As they step away from the court for the final time, we thank our Year 13s for their leadership and sportsmanship. They leave behind a lasting legacy and a brilliant example for future teams to follow.
