We proudly hosted our monthly Discovery Day today, welcoming families eager to experience the wonderful start our Prep Reception offers. This month’s theme, How to Be a Hugasaurus, centred around kindness, imagination and the joy of learning—perfectly capturing the spirit of our early years provision.
The morning began with a warm and engaging story session, where children listened to How to Be a Hugasaurus. The tale introduced ideas of empathy, friendship and helping others, setting a delightful and meaningful tone for the activities that followed.
Children then moved on to two hands-on creative tasks. First, they designed their own 3D dinosaur pictures, using colourful tissue paper to bring their prehistoric characters to life. The activity encouraged fine motor skills, artistic expression and plenty of proud smiles. Next, they made thoughtful friendship bracelets—another lovely opportunity to connect, share and celebrate the theme of kindness.
Before lunchtime, each child collected a special gift bag to take home, adding to the excitement of the day. Families then visited the Dining Hall, where children enjoyed a delicious lunch while experiencing a key part of daily life at Westholme.
Parents were guided on a tour of our outstanding facilities, meeting the dedicated teachers who nurture curiosity, confidence and independence in our youngest learners. Staff were on hand to answer questions, showcase our learning spaces and highlight the warm, supportive environment that defines Westholme.
The day offered a genuine insight into the friendships, exploration and opportunities that await in Prep Reception. Filled with creativity, imagination and joyful moments, Discovery Day once again reflected the enriching start that Westholme provides for every child.
