Miss Saigon: A Triumphant Finale to an Unforgettable Westholme Production

As the final curtain fell on this year’s Senior School and INSPIRED Sixth Form production of Miss Saigon, the Croston Theatre was filled with a sense of pride, emotion and admiration for what had been achieved. Over four remarkable nights, audiences were transported from Lancashire to war-torn 1970s Vietnam, witnessing a story of love, resilience and sacrifice brought to life with extraordinary maturity by our students.

What unfolded on stage was far more than a school production; it was an ambitious, moving and technically outstanding piece of theatre. With breathtaking vocals, meticulous choreography and a live orchestra driving the show’s emotional heartbeat, Miss Saigon demonstrated the exceptional depth of talent within Westholme’s Performing Arts department.

At the centre of the production stood a dedicated cast who delivered performances far beyond their years. The role of Kim was shared with poise and emotional power, each interpretation offering nuance and truth. Chris was portrayed with authenticity and sensitivity, while the Engineer—one of musical theatre’s most complex characters—was brought to life with humour, charm and depth. Ensemble performers, dancers and supporting cast added richness to every scene, creating a fully immersive world that captivated audiences night after night.

Behind the scenes, months of rehearsals and quiet determination enabled the magic on stage. Students in the orchestra mastered a demanding score with discipline and passion, while the technical team delivered seamless lighting, sound and staging that elevated every moment. Costumes, set design and backstage support combined to create a visually striking and emotionally stirring production.

Head of Drama, Mrs Roberts-Lyle said, “Now that the curtains have closed on Miss Saigon, what stays with me most is the sheer bravery and brilliance of our students. They embraced demanding roles, complex themes and intense musical moments with extraordinary professionalism. With almost 1,000 tickets sold, the support from our community has been overwhelming. I am immensely proud of every single student involved.”

Our students performed with extraordinary maturity and it was a joy to welcome so many members of the Westholme community, distinguished guests and Old Westholmians. Their presence made the atmosphere truly unforgettable.”
