Senior Carol Service 2025

The Senior Carol Service held yesterday at Blackburn Cathedral was a beautiful and uplifting celebration that brought our school community together in the true spirit of Christmas. The stunning surroundings of the cathedral created a perfect setting for an evening filled with reflection, music and joy, as students, staff and families gathered to mark this special moment in the school calendar.

This year, the service proudly supported St Catherine’s Hospice, a charity close to the hearts of many in our community. Through readings, prayer and song, the service highlighted the importance of compassion and support for those who need it most during the festive season.

The music was a particular highlight of the evening. The service opened with a moving performance of Once in Royal David’s City, followed by beautiful renditions of O Little Town of Bethlehem and Angels from the Realms of Glory. The Senior Choir, instrumentalists and soloists performed with poise and confidence, filling the cathedral with warmth and clarity. Their hard work during rehearsals was evident, and the audience were deeply moved by the quality and emotion of the performances.

Interspersed between the musical pieces were readings delivered by students and staff, each sharing a message of hope, faith and the joy of Christmas. The pupils read with eloquence and assurance, demonstrating maturity and understanding of the themes at the heart of the season.

The evening concluded with a united chorus of voices as the congregation joined together for the final carol, leaving everyone with a sense of peace, connection and celebration. The Senior Carol Service was a truly memorable occasion and a wonderful way to begin the festive period.
